I remember Karen's response to the birthday cake on her first birthday. She made this gladsome sound--I've never heard anything like it--and buried her face in the cake. It was just one event in Karen's life-long love affair with chocolate.
Look at the little Shoe Shoe walking at 8 or 9 months old as well as sharing puppy biscuits! I love her in the rag box! I remember that first birthday, too, with the cake. She really dove into it!
E. L. Hiler supplied Jack with the Swiss watches that Jack sold à la Tupperware and Fuller Brushes.
There was one watch in the case that I liked to play with. It was an Omega. Its logo in the face rotated a bit for some reason. I liked to make it rotate a lot by wearing the watch on my wrist and thumping that fist real hard against my other hand. The shock would make the logo spin a bit. After doing this a gazillion times the watch finally quit working. I never fessed up to that crime before.
And, yes, that is a hand grenade. It was mine. It was fully functional! It had a place where you'd put a cap (as in cap gun cap) in it, pull the spring-loaded trigger back, put the safety handle over the trigger and lock it into place. You'd toss the grenade and when it landed the safety handle would unhook and the trigger would slam against the cap and the grenade would "explode." Ah, destruction!

ReplyDeletelooks like Ms Izzy was not too happy with the competition from Ms Pough. It was nice when the puppy biscuits were shared!
ReplyDeleteWhy was everybody looking at the puppy when they had such a darling baby to look at?
ReplyDeleteToo bad the picture of Kevin's first ice cream cone isn't on a slide. It was "deja vu all over again."
