Is this an antique or a modern novelty item?
It's from (and made in) Spain and has two patents. Don't know what they're for. I also have a small pin that matches it.
It's not an antique. And I wouldn't say it's a novelty item. I think it is supposed to be a useful item for getting someone's attention without hollerin'.
It's a quality instrumemnt.
Very nice, I could use that right now to call Jack while I'm convalescing!

BTW, do you still like your ironing device, which has nothing to do with the turtle, but could be something that the butler could be called to do.
